Being a student at The University of _____________ at ________________ is all he has ever dreamed about, everything he’s ever wanted, and all he has ever worked for. For as long as he can remember, he has wanted nothing more than to be a part of “_____________ Nation”. Jumping at every opportunity to visit, tour, and experience something new about the campus every single time. Although he had applied out of high school, he never seized the opportunity to attend; but after his first year of college, he promised himself he would not let the chance slip away from him once more. He decides to apply to his dream school for yet a second time. He begins by finding the application online. As soon as he gazes upon the comprehensive application he knows he has his work cut out for him. He begins to feel the fear creep into his mind yet again; “What if my grades aren’t good enough?” “What about my test scores? Will that be a huge part of their judgment?”, “There’s probably a million and one kids just like me applying” “What if they’re not looking for someone like me? “What if I am just simply not good enough? “What If I will never be good enough?” He can feel the doubt beginning to grow but he quickly discards it. He refuses to let himself be hindered by self-doubt and recognizes that he knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, he has something to offer the university; he just has to make them see it. He begins to go to work. Slowly accumulating the paperwork, transcripts, test scores, and then…the essays. The essays, the part of the application that can make a University look past subpar grades or scores and see the student for who they really are. He has to capitalize. He has so much to say about himself, his love for the university, and everything he knows he can accomplish there. He writes them with ease. He double, triple, even quadruple checked his essays, test scores, everything and his application is finally complete and ready to submit. Before he submits it, he looks in the mirror, says a prayer and tells himself: “You’ve put everything into this, no matter what happens, know that.” And he presses send…a couple excruciatingly slow months passes by and the time is now, decisions are in, the future is now. He sits down opens the application that could change his life forever. He scrolls down to the decision link, he clicks it, he begins to read “Dear ___________, …..”
